While photographing filters for my “Camera Bag” page, I decided I liked the way the light and colour were reflected on the surface I was using.
So I had fun making some abstract shots using filters, a mirror, and the background (a potted plant).
On a rainy day, even photography equipment can make for interesting photographs.
It appears as though the curtains continue down the length of the photo, but it is merely a reflection.
Sitting at my kitchen table, I noticed the way these lace panels were mirrored in the wood.
A trick of the light, I suppose, but one that deserved to be photographed.
I suppose this is what I look like, a lot of the time, a camera positioned in front of my face.
There was a broken piece of glass against an old shed the other day, and I had to capture it. I had intended to make a few compositions of the slivered shards and reflected light. When I stepped in front of it, it was myself that I saw. (Three times over!)
So I took a picture of me, instead.
A frosted window with a blurred view to the outside, and a reflection of the colours from inside creates an abstract composition.
Bare trees reflected in rippling water like an eerie apparition…
Sometimes, one outing provides for many memorable moments…
A fall day so warm the afternoon was spent at the beach.
One of the fish my children tearfully rescued from the sand bars.
A pretty patterned crab in the shallow water.
My children at play.
Being able to walk barefoot on the sandbars in October – this is a gift.
We had just gotten in the door when I heard squealing from the kitchen.
“MOM!! Come see! There’s a rainbow in the house!”
And so there was.
As clear as anything, a pretty rainbow looked as though it had been painted up the wall and over the ceiling. We were captivated.
The sun was striking a CD we had left on the counter, creating this incredible phenomenon. It lasted only a few moments; we were lucky to have arrived at just the right time.
Sometimes, when I am lacking inspiration, I head to the dollar store.
This was one of those times. This photo, called “I Dream in Colour”, is an image of the inside of a $1 jar.
There is beauty even in the most unexpected places.
