On these bitterly cold winter days, I’d really rather not head outside with my camera. Instead, I find creative ways to make photos indoors.
Drizzling oil into water is one such way.

Bubble Trails
Bubbles in the river, gathered in curving lines, make abstract designs that I cannot resist capturing with my camera.
Dishwashing
While washing out an olive oil bottle, I noticed these beautiful patterns created by the mix of soap and oil.
As the dishwater cooled, I made photos of the artful bubbles inside the bottle.

Falling in the Snow
With all of this warm weather we’ve been having, the snow has been rather soft.
And so, while walking through my backyard looking around for photo possibilities, I fell right through it. Incredibly, I managed to fall without dropping my camera in the snow.
As I was getting up, I looked down and noticed these little frozen bubbles by my feet.
I crouched low and managed a few shots before the dogs tore through them and sent them flying.
The Soap on the Window
Quick-changing abstracts paint the car windows in the car wash.
These waves of blue splashed across the glass. Rainbow bubbles patterned the windows. Water droplets dappled the glass.
It is split-second art.
